Electronic Engine Management

    STEYR MOTORS' cutting-edge technology is its electronic engine management system, which oversees and manages the engine's crucial functions. The system can be accessed through a diagnostic tool for onboard troubleshooting, and connects to the standard STEYR MOTORS Beede instrument panel, displaying engine data via CAN BUS J1939 for complete visibility of operating parameters.

    As a European manufacturer, STEYR MOTORS complies with the most stringent emissions standards including Tier III, Bodensee II, RCD 2003/44, EPA, and IMO. This results in an environmentally-friendly range of engines, incorporating innovative design features. The company's 2-stage unit injection system not only lowers emissions but also supports the use of diverse fuels such as biofuels and alternative fuels. The company endorses the use of 100% Bio Diesel in their engine range and adheres to the Australian Standards for Bio Diesel (Bio Diesel Standard 2003).

    STEYR MOTORS diesel engines are engineered with advanced high pressure unit injectors reaching up to 2000 bar, utilizing a dual-stage fuel injection system operated by an overhead camshaft and rocker arms. The two-stage unit injection process initiates combustion with the first stage and regulates fuel delivery with the second stage, resulting in a cleaner and smoother ignition with the elimination of black smoke and diesel knock. The system ensures a robust diesel engine that can withstand harsh marine environments and demanding loads.

    STEYR MOTORS Monoblock design, crafted from high-grade alloy cast iron, delivers evenly distributed temperature and cooling to guarantee exceptional liner longevity. This design reduces the risk of blown head gaskets, common in marine engines. The engine's strength is further enhanced by its use of chrome molybdenum forged crankshafts, dynamically balanced high silicon aluminum pistons, ceramic coated top rings, and hardened valve seats, resulting in an engine that is both robust and capable of performing in challenging environments.
